How to get student insurance

Step 1: Start your quote

Start a quote and pick the Everyday option.

Step 2 - Fill in your details

Be sure to select ‘I am a tenant renting the home’ under the question’ what best describes the use of the home’. Select ‘contents only’ for your type of cover and state the address of the flat where your contents are located.

You’ll need to know what type of building you live in and what that building is made of. If you’re unsure just ask your parent or guardian or check with the landlord.

Step 3 - Get the correct sum insured

Your contents sum insured needs to be double the value of your specified items. For example, if your phone and laptop are worth $4000 your sum insured should be $8000 or more.

Step 4 - List your specified items

Specifically list out your valuable items worth more than $1000 each that are normally carried away from home such as your mobile and laptop. You can do this in the specified items and portable valuables section.

Step 5 - List your unspecified items

You can also choose to insure unspecified items that are worth less than $1000 each which are normally carried from home for an extra premium.

Step 6 - Choose your excess

Excess starts from $300. This is the amount you pay before you can claim on your insurance so choose the option that best suits you.

Once you've chosen your excess, your quote is complete!
